Let me first just start off by saying I am so giddy to announce this quilt. I designed this quilt probably, oh, 3 years ago or so. The fact that it FINALLY came to life just makes me smile!
Introducing.... Paradox!
You can get it here in my SHOP in PDF or in Paper form.
That's my daughter. Isn't she a ham? Love her!
These photos were all taken at a local park. This quilt is 90" x 90" so finding a good spot to take a good photo of the WHOLE thing was quite daunting. Then, I saw this bridge.
It wasn't without worry that my quilt would fall to the waters below, so after many warnings of DON'T LET GO to my daughter, we were able to get some pretty awesome photos!
Oh, it looks like the background fabric is different shades, but that is just the sun shining on it. :)
Here she is OVER the water. Thank goodness for large clamps that fit tight so it wouldn't fall! It was a very nerve wracking photo shoot! Heh!
Just a few more....
This photo makes me giggle. It was the first spot we stopped to grab a photo and clearly it was not the best spot to showcase it due to the size but I still love the detail. That star in the lower right corner, that is my favorite block in the whole quilt. :)
Ohhhh boy. These next photos showcase the quilting. This has a story...
I have never sent a quilt out to be quilted. Part of it was that I liked saying I completed the quilt from start to finish but truth be told, I am no expert. I do ok but I wanted a professional look to them. So, I bucked up and contacted a quilter.
Her name is Darla Padilla of Wildflower Quilting.
Let me tell you when I received this beauty home, I had tears. Real, honest to goodness, tears. I was so happy, delighted, and in awe. Thank you Darla, you are awesome!!
Can you see them?
I chose owls to be quilted into this quilt because I thought it looked like stars shining in the night sky and who-who-who is out at night? Owls!
Yes. I am a dork. =P
A bit closer....
So? What do you think? Do you love it? I know I do!
For this quilt I used all Kona Cotton solids for the stars. I used two fat quarter bundles, Sunrise and Sunset. They play so nice together! For the background, I used Essex Yarn Dyed Linen in black. All fabric is from Robert Kaufman! I heart them.
In addition, all my patterns starting with Paradox will be in full color. Most of my PDF's already are, but from here on out, all my paper patterns will be as well. Same price too!
I would love to hear your thoughts on this quilt!
I know the size is a bit scary, but I promise you, this quilt is easy to make. It does take some time, but it is not difficult. I have very detailed step by step instructions for each block!
The blocks are 18" finished so if you don't want to make the entire quilt, you could make a pillow, or a baby blanket or a throw. Take the large star in the middle with the 4 corner blocks, that is 54" square. Perfect for a throw! So many options!
Enjoy Paradox!
Much Love!!!

Gorgeous! I love star blocks, so to see all these blocks in different sizes together is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of star blocks put together but haven't sewn the rows together. This just might inspire me to get them out and "play" with them again.
