Caturday!

I don't have a lot to share today, just a few photos. :)

My child...she truly is the cat lady. They always follow her and they let her do just about anything to them.

One kid. Two kittens. Three quilts. ;)
Odyssey on the left, Zee in the middle, and Sunny on the right. :)
I always seem to show pictures of Odyssey, mostly because she is more calm and will actually sit still in a photo shoot! I finally got a really sweet one of Sunny though...

Awww :)

Last but not least, another sneak peek of my Central Park by Kate Spain quilt. I finished the top today and I'm hoping to piece the back and quilt it tomorrow. Granted, I can't show you the whole thing till January though. Hee hee :)

Laundry is waiting, unless anyone would like to step up and do it for me? :D

Jar Of What...?

Anyone who knows me or has read my blog for some time, knows that music is a must have in my world. A day doesn't go by with out it and what I play always depends on the mood I am in, or the mood I want to be in. You know what I mean? When you're all frumpy and just need something to cheer you up? Music can do that for me.

However, there is always a song (or ten) that gets you down. It makes you think of something you really don't want to think about. Maybe it's because of something that happened in the past or maybe something recent. Even though it makes you sad, you still like the song. Perhaps for the artist, maybe the melody. Lot's of different reasons.

A song that released in July of this year is one of those songs for me. It's really kind of a depressing song, but Christina Perri has such a unique voice that it's stuck with me.

Have a listen and see what I mean...

Christina Perri --- Jar of Hearts

See? Good song though, right? Right.

Let me tell you something else.

This song no longer depresses me in the least. It actually makes me laugh? Every time! You're probably thinking what kind of nut case I am, huh? LOL!

Seriously....it makes me laugh because a few weeks ago I was in the car with my kids and this song came on. During the chorus when these words played..."collecting a jar of hearts.." my 9 year old son pipes up and asks, "Did she just say 'jar of FARTS'??!!"...and then he just broke up laughing!! I nearly had to pull over from laughing so hard!

So, listen to it again, only replace the words. I dare you not to giggle from now on. :D

Kids are the best for making us laugh, hm?

Beautiful Day

The temperatures today reached over 60 degrees. It was incredible. Driving home from the office with the windows down (singing at the top of my lungs...heehee) and the sun shining in never felt better! Don't worry. I was on the interstate so I was going too fast for anyone to hear me sing.  Lucky for their ears too! :)

When I got home I wanted to spend some time outdoors since it was so beautiful. I grabbed my camera and went hunting for things to shoot so I could fulfill my "photo a day" project. Some of the sprouting flowers had peeked up a bit more but no blooms yet. The leaves on the trees are still tucked tight in their buds so I took a photo of the grass just because it was starting to turn green. Yes. I'm cheesy.

Grass is not the most interesting thing to take a photo of (so I won't share that masterpiece) but it still gives me practice with my camera. I've stepped completely out of the ease of just shooting in "auto" mode because what is the point of having a Digital SLR camera if you always have it on auto? I've also started shooting in RAW which allows for better editing (some will argue that point but it works for me and that is all that matters to me).

My favourite mode to shoot in is in the aperture mode. This allows me to put the aperture where ever I want and the shutter speed is set for me. I love love love taking shallow depth of field shots but I practiced with some action shots today. Bug and his friend were my models...

**His friend looks like he's gonna spill but no worries, he just zoomed by! :)

Hi Mom
**Gotta have a "ham it up" photo. :)

Then I tried, hopelessly, to get a shot of Bodie looking at the camera to show off his beauty. He has one blue eye and one brown. It's stunning and captivating but no go Charlie. He refuses to look at the camera, even if there is no flash. I think he does it on purpose just to get my goat. Get my goat? Where the heck did that come from? I know what it means but it makes no sense. I should just delete it. Now I'm just rambling.... moving on....
Bodie
**He's still a beauty. Stubborn or not.

When the sun was setting I couldn't help myself. I love me a sunset....

I've been thinking about my mom a lot this week. I know it's because her birthday is on Sunday and knowing that makes me miss her deeply again. It comes and goes in waves. When a pot luck was suggested at the office to celebrate St. Patty's day it was a no brainer as to what I would bring. My mom shared this recipe with me years ago and it is so simple and yummy and everyone loves it. Thanks mom....love ya!

I hope you had a beautiful day too!

I Love ... Part 3

I had to look back to see how long ago I had posted an "I love" entry. Um. It was back in May of '09. Oops. I guess I got a bit behind. I didn't intentionally leave it by the wayside, I just sort of forgot. Then again, who wants to read boring ole lists anyways? So let's do this a bit different....no more lists.

I love this girl with all of my heart, and then some. She has such a big heart. She is kind and warm. Compassionate. Honest and respectful. She loves any and all animals. Unfortunately she gets her fear of spiders from me. She doesn't mind having someone smoosh those...lol. She is funny and playful and a total dork. She fits right in. I love her.

My little man. I love him so. He's my Bug. He's a total momma's boy and I let him be. Today I took him to a birthday party. He was going to get to play laser tag with all of his buddies. We arrived and he took off to play while I touched base with the parents and before I left, I wanted to say a quick goodbye. He is 8 (almost 9) and he was with all his friends so I was gonna be the "cool mom" and give him a high five and be on my way so he didn't get embarrassed. Before I could even get my hand in the air, he had his arms outstretched for a hug and wrapped around me. I bent down to tell him to have a good time and he kissed my cheek. He melts my heart.

I even still love him when he beats the pants off of me in a game and makes these kinds of faces at me! :D

Quilting. I've dabbled in it for years, but over the last year or so I've really found my place in it. There are a lot of things I don't know and there's always room for practice and improvement, but I'm loving it more and more. Especially with this pinwheel quilt a long I am in. A new block each Saturday until we have 16 blocks. We are half way there already.  I will actually be adding 9 more blocks of my own that will be different as well as the mini-pinwheels in the sashing. I just have to wait to see what other blocks she has up her sleeves. :)  Here is her original sampler.

This weeks blocks. :)

Lastly and also fitting... this movie. I adore it. Each and every time I watch it. I've probably seen it at least 30 times and I still laugh at the funny parts and cry at the sad ones. It just never gets old.

This is probably my favourite scene (well, besides the JDM backside shot..yah!).  I wish I could find a longer version of it that extends to their first kiss.  The entire scene is sweet, endearing and funny. I suggest you just go and watch the whole movie. I mean, I watched it again tonight. Twice. :)

P. S.... I love you .....
