You Might Be A Redneck If...

you have to hang your newly made "catch all" bag by the light to take a photo of it. :D

Viewfinder fabric is Ruby Star Rising by Melody Miller and the teal is a quilters linen from Robert Kaufman!

But so what..it's still cute and now I have my very own bag to throw all my crap in on my way the the office each morning. :D

I really really really need to get more of this viewfinder fabric!! It's a dream to work with and it's adorable to boot! :)

Oh...no, I don't have a pattern or link to a tutorial for this. It's just a mish mash of several tutorials that I found over the past few months.  Sorry! Film In the Fridge has  a really cute one though, that inspired this one!

So anyway, I've been playing around with it all weekend and I have a special tutorial coming up for you! It's scheduled right now to post on February 4th so keep your eyes out!

Pillow Talk 4 Excitement!!!

Y'all have heard of me talk about the Pillow Talk Swap over on Flickr, yes?  You also know of that saying that goes, "good things come to those who wait"?

Ok....sorry about that. Trying to contain my excitement enough to write this post!! Wanna know why??!! 

Ok, lemme tell ya since you've gone and twisted my arm all up ... hee hee!

Let me introduce you to Ryan of Ryan Walsh Quilts. He is an uber cool dude and he quilts and stuff! Click over there on his name and spend some time {{hours}} over on his blog looking at all the fun stuff he has made! He has some really great projects and tutorials too! But before you go.....

LOOKIE WHAT HE SENT ME FOR PILLOW TALK 4!!!!! {{breathes in a bag....}}

My son came toodling in after school with a big ole box in his hands. I saw the return address and snatched the box very nicely from my kid! I knew...I knew what was in it because just a few days ago Ryan posted this on his blog....

I felt like a kid in a candy store!!  

This is what I pulled out of the box... {{squeals!}}

 

 

First a yummy chocolate bar!!! Mmmmm!!! 

Then look at this adorable turtle puppet!! Hahahhaah!!! Totally cute and I was so giggling!

Oh...and THEN he included some stationary in the Hope Valley line print!! {{swoon!}}

Oh...and then....oh be still my heart....look at all those hexies and that pebble quilting!!!! He even cut out a turtle from the fabric and stitched it down!! O. M. G!!!! In NEPTUNE none the less!!! {{faints.....}}

Ryan you are one amazing dude and quilter!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE, did I say LOVE my pillow!!??!! Well just in case you still question it...I LOVE IT!!!! { No Julie, you can't have it, sorry love! ;) }

You hit the nail on the head with me and I will cherish this pillow forevah and evah! Someday I'll give you a big ole hug for it in person!! Thank you doesn't seem like it's enough to say, but thank you, from the bottom of my heart! <3

I am going to admit a less than smart thing here, but I'm ok with that and why not give you all a chuckle, right? 

When I first read this I was like, "huh? what do you do after you cut the top off?". 

After I blankly stared at the photo for about 10 minutes I finally realized that after you cut the top off of the smaller spool...you put it INSIDE the larger one. That way it will fit on your spool holder! Genius!

I don't have a serger (pouts) and that is my excuse for my lameness. ;)

Happy 1st Birthday!

A year ago today, Freckled Whimsy came to be. 

I can't believe it's been that long already! I mean, I've blogged long before then, but to know a year has went by already is crazy! 

One thing I can say is that I can see I've come a long way from a year ago and can only hope to continue growing!

Brag Wall #1

My grandma used to have one of these. Tons of photos in frames of all her kids and grand-kids all compiled on one wall. She had bragging rights and she wanted to show them off. 

That's what I want to do here today, of sorts. 

I love writing tutorials for all of you but the fun part comes in when I see that someone has made a project from one of my tutorials! I get warm fuzzies every time!! I also love to see my patterns made up in different fabrics! It can give it a completely different look! :) 

So today I'm bragging about YOU!
