" If you can't laugh at yourself, life's gonna seem a whole lot longer than you like." ~ Sam, Garden State
So here I am at my new home, settling in. I used to be over at Whispering In Silence, but decided to make a change. My new happy place. Did you notice my turtles? Hee Hee :)
Right now it's 11:45 am on Friday. Let me tell you a little bit about my day and why I'm about ready to pull my hair out. First let me tell you that I took a few days off at the office, today being one of them, so I wanted a "me" day. Me, myself, and I. It was supposed to be a good day. Hmmpf.
After I got the kids off to school, I curled back in under my warm blankies and fell back to sleep. Ahhhh....nice, huh? Until....my son called me from school asking me if I knew where his mummy drawing was because he needed to turn it in today. I said, "the really big one with lots of colors that was cut out?". "Yes! That's it!". At this point I am swearing really loudly in my head and began to tell him, "Bug, I thought that was just something you brought home and didn't need anymore. I threw it away last week.". ***silence*** I am pretty much feeling like a shitty mom at this moment because I know he is thinking he will get in trouble because he didn't bring it in. I told him I would contact the art teacher and tell her what happened. I haven't heard back from her yet, but hopefully she will understand. Moral of that story? Ask your children if papers are needed BEFORE throwing them away. **hits self on forehead**
I couldn't go to back to sleep after that so I started cleaning up the house to take out my own frustration. That went as planned. Figures.
This was still a "me" day and I was still going to do something I enjoyed so I pulled out the fabric for my daughters quilt and started having at it. Apparently I wasn't paying close enough attention because I sewed a big part of it wrong, so I had to use Jack (Jack the Ripper...my seam ripper...lol) and take part of it apart. I sewed it back together, just to find out I did it wrong AGAIN!! Seriously! What is wrong with me. Argh!
I finally get that all squared away but during the process my machine started acting all wonky. The thread kept pulling out every time I'd start it. I'm not sure why as it was sudden. At this point I'm about ready to run around in a padded room screaming, I was so frustrated. I put the quilting stuff away and made a phone call to my local sewing center where I got my machine to see if they knew what was going on. They said they would have to look at it to be able to diagnose it. Of course, that makes sense. I asked how long they would need to keep it to look it over and clean it. He said a week, at least. A WEEK?! This really bites the big one because I don't have a back up machine and I have projects in the works and one that I will need to begin tomorrow. A week with out my machine...*sigh*.
A shower always makes you feel good, right? That's what I thought so off I went to take a nice hot shower, a long one. The one's where you get out and you can barely see in the bathroom over all the steam. Yeah...ahhhhhh.... :) It was great. Loved it. Just what I needed. Then...THEN I pulled the shower curtain to the side and noticed that there were no towels, because I had gathered them all up to put in the wash. =/ I stood there for a moment trying to decide if I should just stand there and air dry or go out in to the cold hallway and get a towel. Mind you, I have to walk through the cold bedroom to get to that hallway first. I went and got a towel and while drying off, I noticed it was a complete waste of time for me to have shaven my legs. Pathetic huh?
I think for the rest of the day I am going to just sit on the couch and veg. What can go wrong doing that? Unfortunately, I can't do that so I guess I'll just brave it and hope the rest of the day goes smooth.
Eeeeshh! It really sucked going through all that, but now that I'm typing it out, it really is kind of funny. Leave it to me. Maybe you got a laugh too. =P
