Happenings!

So I've been busy with a few things over the last week.

Last Saturday I finally got my Kindle in the mail! Long time coming since I ordered her on August 9th! I was a bit apprehensive about this new device, despite all it's reviews.

I can tell you that I love it!! A lot! I can't believe I went so long with out it! I've picked it up everyday since I got it! It's small, but not so small that its a hindrance. I mean, it slides right into your purse! You can't do that with many books unless you have a HUGE purse...lol! It holds more books than you can even imagine. So no matter where you are, as long as you have your Kindle, you can read whatever you want! Imagine all the space you save by not having to purchase the actual book! Lots and lots of saved space! The best part? They dropped the price waaaayyyy down!! Over $100!

I've seen some people say that they may get the iPad because you can use the Kindle app on that, but the iPad is so large and bulky, heavy even. Besides that...you would have a hard time reading books in the sun with it!  It's cool if you want the iPad....but I wouldn't use it to read books. So get them both! Just my opinion though. ;)

I can say I am extremely happy with her! I've already read one book (The Hunger Games) and I am on to the second in the series called Catching Fire and I am about 3/4 of the way through! I think I can read faster with this baby! LOL!

Now what are you waiting for? Go get one!! :D

Now I know y'all moan and groan with teasers, but I have to show that I've been working on something besides reading.

Last Saturday I started out doing this....

I've been itching to do a quilt completely in solids. I finally got the chance and started cutting up some Kona Crush! I love this stuff! A lot!

Today I was able to get it quilted....with some help of course.. :)

I only have to stitch down the binding and its done!! Keep your eyes out for the reveal. :)

One more thing....you gotta go get the new Stitch magazine!! So many cute projects in there!!

Now....if I could just decide on one. :)

Much Love!!!

  2. Congrats on the Kindle! My husband has one. He loves it. We were worried because it broke after only a month or two but I called customer service for him. I have never ever ever had a better customer service experience. I think it was 5 or 6pm when I called on a Friday eve. The new kindle was on our doorstep Monday morning. They said we would have had it on Saturday but nobody does Sat delivery in my itty bitty town. They made the return so simple too. It was seriously amazing and we've had NO problems whatsoever with the new one.

Can't wait to see your finished quilt and that magazine looks really cool! I've never seen it before so now I'm off to google it.

  3. That sound you hear is me turning the color of your background. I SO desperately want a Kindle, but I just can't justify it right now. Too many expenses. Every time I want to buy a book, I have to remind myself that I should put the money toward a Kindle. Unfortunately, I keep dipping into the Kindle box.

  4. Congratulations on being a new Kindle owner! Have you checked out all the free books that are available on Amazon for it? A word of warning, though - if you see one you think you might be interested in, order it then - because it may not be free the next time you check! They'll give away the first book in a series in hopes of getting you hooked so you buy the rest of them. I've discovered a lot of authors I might never have read just by trying the freebies. After all, you haven't lost anything if you don't like it!

And I can't wait for the reveal...... ;-)

  5. Congratulations on your kindle! I love mine (even though I bought it about 2 weeks before they dropped the price), too! I wanted to share a blog with you -- it's KindleCheapReads.com and they share amazon books that are below $5, many of them free. Happy Reading!

  7. My husband has a Kindle. We just got back from a trip down to NC and back (to Indiana). He had maps from the computer loaded on his Kindle. Not sure how he did that. He also is reading a lot of free books. He said he just read Treasure Island for free the other day. Glad you got one. I'd be interested to know if you have any quilt books on yours and if you do how you like them?????

  9. Congrats on your new Kindle! I have enjoyed mine so much, and I also have an iPad that I really enjoy. I don't read books on my iPad, but I do read magazines and blogs on it. What will they think of next : )
I am looking forward to seeing your quilt. I've been spending the day watching football and cutting selvages off my fabrics for some future projects.
