There's a pattern using a layer cake that has a garden twist design I would like to make. It leaves the pieces quite large so you can the prints, but doesn't scream "layer cake." It would be perfect for "Freebird." Thanks for the opportunity.

I more or less destroyed a jelly roll of Freebird and all these 2.5 in squares (and a few random HST) are just sitting in a drawer because the pieces are too small to see the pretty prints. I would add to my "scraps" to create the pillow cases as I intended to do with the jelly roll.

I have a snow ball quilt pattern and this would look just right done with this layer cake...though I may just have to keep it for a while and keep looking at it, it's a big decision you know cutting into such beautiful fabric!

The layer cake would be great for some of the Schnibbles Times Two patterns. As for the blog, I love getting helpful tips and seeing pictures of things you've made.

ReplyDeleteYour blog is great - My favorite thing on almost all blogs is tutorials of the fabulous things that the author has made.
I'm currently in love with Double Hourglass quilts, so I'm pretty sure I'd have to put such lovely fabric as this into a beautiful quilt like that! Personally, I just love your tidbits and have even tried some (that tip about threading the needle from the end hanging off the spools has ended the frustrations I had with my quilting thread twisting and knotting -- your name has been blessed more times than you'll probably ever know!). Keep those tips coming, pretty please!

Oh and I also love your kitties, they are just the picture of relaxation. My two are addicted to sitting on whatever I am working on, or me !

It's always nice to have one place to look instead of having to go through old postings to find something. I mean, after all, I know YOU are the one that posted the info I'm looking for, it's just finding it that's the problem.

I like many of the old fashioned blocks like variable star and shoofly, but I usually use rather plain fabrics. Your layer cake fabrics would be really fun to use in a lap quilt of one of these blocks--for my daughter or for myself.

I love the disappearing nine patch and would probably cut this into charms and 2 1/2 inch strips. Just love your blog and of course would like to see more tutorials - I've been quilting for a while but still feel like a novice... but I know how long it takes to do a tutorial so don't want to be greedy!

ReplyDeleteI love seeing picture with animals snuggled under quilts, my puppy does it all of the time and I think it is so sweet. I love all of MoMo's fabric and I feel a special connection with her because that is my nickname as well. I would make a throw for my house something that would leave the big print uncut.

I bought a pattern from the Madison Quilt expo last year that would be perfect to make with these fabrics. I would give the finished project to my neighbor down the road who has suffered from MS for many years. I would like the quilt to remind her of the beautiful perennials that color her backyard as well as all of the song birds that visit her feeder in the middle of winter.
